Gusto Kong Mag-react Sa Speech Ni His Excellency Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III

Last June 30, Benigno Simeon Aquino III took his oath as 15th President of the Republic of the Philippines. Various people from all walks of life, politicians, celebrities, dignitaries, foreign officials and ordinary people, trooped to Quirino Grandstand to witness this remarkable inauguration of His Excellency.

I expected that the newly elected president would deliver his speech primarily in English. I salute him for using our national language for it is more appealing to the masses. It is very vital that the trust of the people to the government will be renewed once again.

President Aquino’s speech was a feel good speech.

He mentioned vital things that are pleasing to the ears. He will first tackle in his administration eradicating corruption, education for the people, agricultural needs of our farmers, excellent quality of infrastructures, emergency employment which was first implemented by her mother, peace in Mindanao, just to name a few. He stressed in his speech that seeking justice for the wrong-doings of the past administration will be done assigning former Chief Justice Hilario Davide as the leader of the Truth Commission. Maybe, this is one way of His Excellency to gain the trust of the people. It is much easier and convenient if the Filipino people are one in fighting against various national problems. Plus injustices were done in the past administration so it is only right to make them pay.

The “sorry state of the country" left by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has brought such high expectations and hopes for the incoming president.

I hope this would be the new beginning of long lost dreams and aspiration of all Filipino people. Everything will not be done as simple as we think for selfish politicians would surely not easily give up their acquired privileges. It’s time to fulfill the promises Noynoy made. The Filipino people will be watching his appointees in the cabinet on how they will perform. I think transparency and accountability are ways to make them responsible and accountable for their acts and dealings.

Our president should use the legacies of his parents as an inspiration to always strive to do better.

I believe that there is a sign in heaven that our suffering will soon end. P-Noy will lead a clean and honest government. Our women will no longer be abused in foreign land. A better future awaits our youth, the fair hope of our motherland. Let us all arise my dear friend, let us help P-Noy in his fight against corruption. And let us work together to make our dreams come true, of better future, which until now only exist in our dreams.

If I'm In Noynoy's Shoes

We have given justification to the sacrifice my parents made for this land. Filipinos are indeed worth dying for.

We, Filipinos, have won the battle yet another one is coming. Our nation is facing many problems. Corruption, poverty, war in Mindanao just to name a few. There is so much work to do. But for the next 6 years of my administration, we, not only I will conquer these problems.

Why can’t we advance? Why can’t we progress? What is it in us that limits or prohibits our growth as a people and as a country? I usually ask these questions to myself. The past administration has programs and projects that are beneficial to the masses. But I have seen officials who implement these projects do not make the most out of it. Graft, corruption, red-tape, bribery and the like. These are the termites that continue to ruin the rightful benefits our people must receive. In my recent campaign, I always stress “Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap”. I believe, having a transparent and accountable government is the key that will drive those termites away. Effective implementation of this will surely erase these pests. We must now become a government committed to accountability and transparency; a government that works with the people in achieving long-term change.

My vision is to transform our country into one where we have lower tax rates enjoyed by all, rather than have some enjoy absolute tax exemptions while we burden the rest of the economy with very high tax rates. We will refrain from imposing new taxes or increasing tax rates. I believe that markets are better than government in spotting where the growth opportunities are, and, with universal low tax rates, we will encourage entrepreneurs and enterprises to invest and create jobs in any industry.

We must also be able to harness our homegrown talent in order to further improve our local industries.

Nations whose nationalism is destroyed are subject to ruin.

It’s time to unite for a better Philippines!

Being nationalistic will greatly boost our morale and pride therefore letting us make a difference for our beloved country which is greatly needed by now. Let us not abandon our land in this time of need instead let us move to protect our homeland. Let us not lose hope for we have already begun in searching for long-term solutions.

Ngayon, wala na tayong dapat pang ikatakot. Tayo ay gising na. Tayo ay mulat na. Tayo ay kikilos na upang makamit ang tagumpay. Taas-noo muli ang Pilipino sa mundo.

Thank you and may the Good Lord bless us all. Mabuhay tayong lahat!

Original UST Hymn With Its Tagalog Translation

Seat of Aquinas, majestic enduring

the storms of the ages.

Shrine of our ancient fathers,

Carved in these isles

This is the castle imperious.

This is the home of our sages.

Blessed by the Cross of the angels,

Gift of our Mother Spain!

Deep in her echoing chambers

Flames of eternal yearning

Cast their benignant shadows

athwart this beloved land.

Keeping the torches of freedom

and heave forever burning.

Deep in the heart led by the Saviour's

command.

(Chorus)

God of all nations

Merciful Lord of our restless being,

Sweep with your golden lilies;

This fountain of purest light;

Trace with the sails of the galleons

the dream beyond our seeing

Touch with the flame of your kindness

the gloom of our darkest night.

Keep us in beauty and truth and virtues

impassioned embrace

Ever your valiant legions

Imbued with Unending Grace!

Tagalog Translation

Diyos ng Bayan

Maawaing Diyos, ng aming katauhan

Lantay ng gintong lirio

ang batis na dalisay

Bakas ng layag ng galeon,

Lubhang lampas sa paningin

ang Iyong maawaing liwanag

Lagim ng kadiliman.

Sa kagandahan, katotohana’t kabaitan.

Ang Iyong mga kawal

Biyaya’y walang hanggan

Bucket List

10 Random Things To Do Before I "Kick The Bucket"

10
Make my character in Flyff obtain Master badges.
ShintaroH→Billposter
oOLadyBeatriceOo→Ringmaster
oOLadyAliceOo→Psykeeper
Omashu05→Elementor

9
Make customized cards for my loved ones filled with colorful, shiny and shimmering stuffs.

8
Experience the thrill of bungee jumping and ride for the last time at EK's Space Shuttle.

7
Have photo shoots with the background of Eiffel Tower.

6
Know the capital of all countries and its flag for the sake of my passion for Geography.

5
Spend an hour looking at Juan Luna's Spoliarium and the Manunggul Jar.

4
Force the person I like to be my "significant other". And since I always spend my Valentines Day alone, I will not let this opportunity pass without spending the whole day of February 14 with him.

3
Eat all of my favorite food in one sitting. Any pizza from Shakeys or Yellow Cab, cookies and cream flavored ice cream, the overated spaghetti and an ube cake. The second batch of food will be the exotic ones. Isaw, balut, kwek-kwek and other variations (tokneneng) and tripilya will always be present there.

2
Compile all my favorite songs in a storage device and these will be played during my burial.

1
I've been trying to imitate one of Mahatma Gandhi's ritual. He used to spend a day every week without talking and probably just meditating. On the 365th day of my stay here in this world, I will isolate myself in my room. I will not talk. I will contemplate and reminisce all the good things that happened in my life. =)

If I Were A Famous Celebrity I Would Be...

Born: June 15, 1950 at Sadulpur, Rajasthan, India
Residence: London, England
Nationality: Indian
Alma mater: St. Xavier's College, Calcutta
Occupation: Chairman and CEO, ArcelorMittal
Net worth: US $19.3 Billion
Religious beliefs: Hindu
Spouse(s): Usha Mittal
Children: Aditya Mittal,Vanisha Mittal

Everytime boredom strikes me, I always drift to the imaginary world. I tell to myself that I will not let anyone know about this crazy imagination but I ran out of ideas in writing this blog. I imagined myself having a sponsor that would give me a million pesos (much better if dollars or pounds) per month. Hahaha. I will buy a condo unit and a townhouse so that I will no longer endure the dormitory life. Appliances and gadgets will surely overflow my "condo unit". I will learn how to drive after I bought the newest car model of Porsche or Mercedes. I will just dial my latest phone of the number of any restaurant and they will just bring the food I want to eat. And I will play Flyff all day long. Good floating times. Hahaha!

. . . Lakshmi Mittal the current 8th richest person in the world. He owns the Arcelor Mittal the largest steel company ever. Bill Gates is a typical choice so I choose Sir Lakshmi. And he owns a steel company. Somehow the program I am currently enrolled can surely help if I am the CEO of his company. Hahahaha. Hmmmm. . . That's all I can say. I just wanted to be filthy rich! Hahaha!

I also want to be Jesus Christ, the great Mahatma Gandhi, Jose Rizal, Adolf Hitler and Mother Teresa. I just wanted to know how they feel during their times. It must be great and at the same time so tiring. Imagine the things they have done to mankind. Especially Hitler. He tried to rule the world. So ambitious! I also have an idea of having a dinner with them. I imagine the debate that we'll create against Hitler. Poor thing. X)

What Is Up With Me Right Now?

I can't believe I'm doing this blog thing. I'm not a blog person because it's like sending group messages of how many times you inhaled oxygen in one minute or what is the number of steps taken from the bathroom to your closet after taking a bath. Hahaha. That's a typical diary freak texter, the exaggerated version. And it kinda annoys me. Well, I better annoy myself! 'coz it's a requirement. Hahaha. But hey! It is writing. (more of typing actually) And I love expressing myself through writing informally! I even have a diary. I tried to make a "full-pledged" diary since Grade 4 to keep track on what's going on with my life but I always neglect and never updated it. But now, I made several entries. So far, so good. And take note, it's the same diary book way back Grade 4. Even the title page was made by a Grade 4 pupil named Erick Paul T. Jaucian. Hahaha. Whoa! The introduction is very long and it's full of unorganized ideas. That's what I want! It pretty satisfies my objective since I wrote this blog , aside from accomplishing the requirement given by my teacher, to have an avenue of expressing myself SPONTANEOUSly.

FLYFF

My beloved character ShintaroH, a Billposter, is currently level 101. I would love to spend time playing with him and make him stronger but I don't have the resources and time. First I don't have a computer and an internet connection since I'm living in a dormitory. I don't like to waste my money paying for computer rentals. And having my desktop along with me freshly delivered from the province and subscribe to an Internet provider is way too expensive. I met a friend who let me use his computer. I am very grateful but I can't live in his pad 24/7. And he's pretty busy balancing his love life and "career". Hahaha! Hmmm I'm a bit sad since I made several acquaintance in Flyff. Most of them are Thomasians also. There is a Kuya Roent (xxxroentxxxx), a 5th year Chemical Engineering and a Master Psykeeper, Ate Ana (xRinoAx), a Chemical Engineering graduate from Mapua and a Master Blade, Kuya Ian (Angelleen, berg), a Commerce graduate from UST and he used to "leech" me since his characters are way strong, and there's more! There's GenzurO from Pampanga and IchigoKurusakii also a 2nd year Thomasian taking Managerial Accounting. It's fun making friends in an online Role Playing Game (RPG) But I guess I'll be playing my ShintaroH only during semestrial breaks and vacations. *sniffs*

Avatar: The Last Airbender

It is a cartoon usually aired in Nickelodeon and it's having a debut movie. Making a movie based on cartoon and anime is rampant these days. They changed the title because of copyright issues, I guess. The movie's title will be "The Last Airbender" removing the word Avatar on it. I'm an avid fan of this show and I can't wait to watch the movie of it. I just wish that it lives out my expectations. I read several negative comments just based on the trailer and I may say that the trailer really stinks! I agree to some of my fellow Avatar fan that there is a huge casting error. Dev Patel as Zuko?! I thought Zuko is more of Chinese, not Indian. I suggest Dev Patel can be the spiritual guro who taught Aang, the Avatar, to open his chakras. If you know what I'm saying. And don't get me started about racism. Avatar: The Lastaibender is based on combined existing mythologies in Asia (more of Chinese) so the characters must be Asian. The only Asian there is Dev Patel and he does not fit playing the character. The movie is full of white who has "good tan" so that they can be more Asian looking. Amp! Anyway my Ex, who is also an Avatar fan, asked me out if we can go watch the movie together. Hello?! The movie will be out in theater by summer 2010. Hahaha! I guess I'll be having a movie date next year. :P

LOVE

I'm approximately 1 year single. Haha. I did not have any successful relationship after that. NEXT!

FAMILY

Engineering students and studs from other faculties and colleges who are inflicted by "the" A(H1N1) was given a chance to further enjoy the summer vacation by a mandatory 10-day self-quarantine. Well as a promdi boy, this is a chance for me to go home. I was a total couch potato from 9am to 6pm. I can't enjoy watching TV beyond that because my grandfather will be back at that time from a "after-retire" work. He's a former police officer and he just can't stand doing nothing at home. So he bought a van from his retirement fee, I think, so that he can do something and kill his boredom. Lucky for me because since we don't get along so well we will not endure each others nerve. There's always been an awkward silence everytime we are together, whether watching TV or eating dinner. I just can't take his military attitude. So fixed and close-minded! But he's my Tatay, I call my grandparents Nanay and Tatay. I know and lived with his attitude and I will love him for that no matter what. I love them both. Since I am their "masterpiece". Yep! They brought life in me. They are the ones who took care of me since I was a child. They are the ones who sent me to college. Lucky for me. I hope that I will live out their expectations. . .

STUDIES

Whoa! I'm a sophomore! And I'm still alive here in UST Faculty of Engineering. Well, Chemical Engineering isn't my thing since Mathematics and Chemistry always bore and make my head ache occasionally. It just popped out in my USTET result that I pass in this program. I really like History or Geography, as seen in the result of my Geo Challenge (just bragging) but THEY did not accept me. Although, I am glad that I can now handle my frustrations and dissapointments easily. Well, I will just do my very best in order to survive four more long years in this course. I'll make my Nanay proud. :)

FRIENDS

I miss my friends. It's a bit frustrating that I did not make any close friends at all here in UST since 1st year. It's just that I'm shocked how things work here in Prontera. I wish I could bring my friends here and we could have laughing moments. And my bestfriend could teach me in my Math courses since he's a Math geek. Believe it or not he can multiply a three digit number by a three digit numbers also, w/o using calculator of course, in just a couple of seconds. Lucky for him, he's in UP currently taking BS Mathematics. I guess I could give an extra effort in knowing some people in my class.
